Në Washington, këngëtarja e mirënjohur Merita Halili solli tingujt e muzikës shqiptare me dy koncerte. Ajo interpretoi e shoqëruar nga orkestra e drejtuar nga bashkëshorti i saj, Raif Hyseni në qendrën Kennedy, qendra më e rëndësishme kulturore e Washingtonit. Ata kënduan edhe në një nga sallat e Bibliotekës së Kongresit, institucion që i organizoi të dy koncertet
